Ghadames International Tourism Festival

 

 

The city of Ghadames is considered one of the most significant regions of tourism attraction in the Great Jamahiriya since a long time for what it abounds in distinguished cultural and civilized heritage and for what it possesses as of customs and traditions and diversified arts has made it the center of attraction of visitors and tourists from all over the world

                 Ghadames International Tourism Festival is organized usually during fall of each year between October and November due to the moderateness of the weather in this season. The festival is characterized by the diversity of the exhibited material whereas the visitor enjoys during three days traditional activities, artistic exhibitions and scenes that express the various living aspects of this city

               The first day of the festival holds the opening ceremony and demonstration shows of various scenes and activities that will l be exhibited in the old city of Ghadames  throughout the days of the festival and also a parade of the participating artistic groups  that will take stage at the days of the festival,

At the second day, the old city will be visited whereas the visitor wander in the city and view its various features and visit the various traditional and cultural fairs that take place in the old houses of the old city. These small fairs are such traditional dresses fair, historical documents and manuscripts fair, traditional crafts like the leather and wool fabrics and the fabric of palm leaves plates and the derivatives of palm  fair. Also a fair of the social scenes  that express the customs and traditions of the country among wedding feasts, social ceremonies. The visit will take place also to see the traditional fairs in the village of Tounine

The third day, the traditional exhibitions of Touaregs will be viewed as well as their customs and various traditions which reflect parts of the culture of the peoples of the Sahara. And in the evening, one shall enjoy the beauty of nature, sand dunes and the surveillance of sunset and also the sportive and artistic fairs of the at the sand sea. The days of the festival are interposed by night soirees by the various artistic groups which reflect the diversified popular folkloric aspect of the old city of Ghadames
